Description
The Dolabella Sea Hare (Dolabella auricularia) is a large herbivorous sea slug native to shallow coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific, often residing in seagrass beds and coral reefs. This species can grow up to 30 cm in length and is characterized by its unique shape and camouflaging abilities. In an aquarium setting, it requires a minimum tank size of 100 liters and thrives in low to moderate lighting with moderate water flow.
Maintaining stable water conditions is crucial, along with providing ample algae and seagrass for its diet. While generally peaceful, the Dolabella Sea Hare may be vulnerable to aggression from more dominant fish, thus compatibility should be carefully considered. Creating an aquascape with plenty of hiding spots and algae growth will support its natural behavior and well-being.
